Time Flies When You Are Having Fun!

Wow time has flow this past month! It feels like I blinked and poof there is September. It was a very momentous month in the Ferguson family.
We started off August with Rebekah's baptism. It was beautiful. We had family come down and friends come over. After mass we has a get together at the house that was fun. It was great to see everyone.
Mid-August we welcomed my precious nephew Alex. He is so sweet! I was blessed to be able to be there when he was born. It was so different being on the spectator side as opposed to being the one having the baby. Joslin did wonderful and she is a wonderful mom! Aaron is a great Dad. They do such a great job with him.
I started my internship at the end of August. It is a lot of work but I am enjoying it. Unfortunately I did not find a job even after applying at 4 different school districts. I am going to be subbing once the paper work gets done. It is taking forever.
Cecelia is blossoming into a precious little girl. She is very talkative and has a HUGE vocabulary. It is so fun being around her. She has started trying to tell jokes. They are not funny but her telling them then laughing and telling us "That's funny" make me laugh. She is also getting into a silly stage. It is a laugh a minute with her! We began potty training this week. Boy is that a challenge. The first day went great. Day two not so great. I am hoping that she will get the hang of it soon. :o) Going through 5 pair of panties in one day is a bit much!
Bekah is growing so fast! She had her well baby check up today. She weighs 18 lbs and is 28 inches long. She is a big girl but the doctor said she is healthy and perfect. Poor baby had to get 2 shots. The first shot she did not even cry. The second shot made her cry but once I turned her toward me and talked to her she was all smiles. Bekah smiles all the time! She laughs out loud at me a lot. She is rolling EVERYWHERE! No crawling yet but she scooches all over. She is also VERY vocal! She talks all the time. She also loves to complain. :o) She doesn't cry much because she complains first and I have figured out what her complaints mean now so she doesn't need to cry. I know when she is hungry, tired, or has a poopy diaper. She can communicate even though she can't talk yet.
I am doing well. I am loving my internship. I have learned so much so far. My mentor is FANTASTIC! She is such a great person and is so willing to teach me. I am so excited to get to work with her. I am praying that there might be an opening soon for a job but so far nothing. I think subbing will get my foot in the door. It will let me meet teachers and principals all over the district. This could prove to be beneficial in trying to find a job here in Galveston.
Below are some random pics that I have taken in the past several weeks.

I don't remember when this was taken but we were at Grammy's. I love the look on Rebekah's face! She is like seriously mom save me! :o)

My little Warrior girl! She loves this hat!
We were at a bar-b-q and Bekah was chillin on MawMaw's lap.
I don't remember what Cecelia was telling me but I love the look on her face! She is so animated!

All Better!

Well this past two weeks has been yucky! We have all had summer colds. Poor Cecelia had it the worst. Thank goodness Rebekah had a lighter version. She was just snotty but no real cough or anything. Mom got it bad too. Mine was yucky but I had to push through it to take care of the girls. Poor Dad was the last to get it. Thank goodness we all seem to be almost over it. Everyone being sick at the same time is awful!

Rebekah is growing so fast! She can now roll over onto her tummy. It isn't her favorite position yet but I think once she realized she can schooch around she will like it. She has so many expressions now. She is not a cryer so much any more but she can sure let you know when she doesn't like something. She had the best disgusted face ever and she "talks" to us all the time. When she is not happy the toe is quite different. It is so cute. It sounds like she is telling me off! When she is happy she makes the cutes sounds ever. She coos and laughs. She is getting longer so she is thinning out a little. Her arms still remind me of the Michelin man. She is so cute and sweet!

Cecelia is learning more and more words and using them A LOT! She now knows her upper and lower case letters, numbers to 9 and can rote count to 12. Today she was "reading" a book on the floor. I was watching from the couch and could not believe it but she was following the words with her finger as she "read" them. I had kindergartners who could not do that!! She loves books. Many times she will want to read instead of playing with toys. She is a sponge right now. It is amazing what she learns and remembers. She loves to say people's names. She also can tell you what state people we know live in. She will tell me "Uh Chuck Florida" or "Cece Texas". She is so smart because she does this for all of my friends. It is precious! I am just such a proud Mommy. I cannot believe how smart she is.

Rebekah's Baptism is going to be Sunday, August 8 at the 7:30am mass at Sacred Heart. I am so excited to finally have her baptized. If you can make it let me know so we can look for you. It is such a great family celebration!

I just finished my last assignment for my class this semester. All I have left is my internship. I have maintained my 4.0 which is something I am immensely proud of, especially with all that has gone on the past year. My girls are my motivation. I want them to see that when you really want something you can accomplish it. I will be so proud to walk the stage at graduation in December with my girls watching. Everything I do I do for them. They are my world!

We haven't taken any pictures lately since we have all been sick. The next installment will have pictures from Rebekah's baptism. :o)

Happy Birthday Cecelia!

Yesterday was Cecelia's 2nd birthday. We celebrated this past Saturday with a big party, bouncy house included. The party was a big sucess and she had such a great day! Thank you to all who came to help celebrate.

Cecelia's 2 year check up was yesterday. She weighs 28.8 pounds. Dr. Noble said she is doing good and is on track. The downside of the visit is that she ended up getting 5 shots and getting blood drawn. Poor baby! She did a good job though and was such a big girl! She cried and so did I! I felt aweful that she had to have so many shots. She is tired and sore today so we have taken it easy.

Both girls have runny noses. Cecelia has a fever (which may be from the shots). Thankfully, Rebekah does not. It was a long night for Mommy as the girls woke up several times during the night. I also didn't sleep well because I was worried about them. I hate it when they are sick. I feel so bad for them! I am praying that I don't catch whatever they have but I figure I will.

Shortly after my last post, one of my dearest friends passed away. It has been devastating to me. I miss her so much. She is truly Cecelia's Godmother now. I knw that she is in heaven watching over both of my girls. I have almost picked up the phone several times to call her. It is still hard to believe she is gone. For those who do not know Bernie, she was a bright vibrant loving person. She died unexpectedly while partcipating in a triathalon. Mom, the girls and I made the trip to Florida so that I could be with her family and help in any way I could. We ended up being ther a week. It was a long busy week. The outpouring of love has been tremendous! It was very apparent how loved she was. Thankfully my professor was understanding and gave me expentions on the work that was due so I have been busy since then making up the work and keeping on track with other assignments.

The girls are such a joy in my life! I cannot say that enough. They bring me joy everyday. It amazes me how much they grow and change. I cannot believe that Cecelia is already 2! It seems like she was born yesterday! She is talking in sentances and knows her letters both upper and lower case. She is a bright little girl who pays attention to everything. It amazes me what she knows. Rebekah is smiling and happy. She is sleeping better and we are getting into a bit of a routine. I am hoping to have her routine established in the next month.

I am very excited that I will be an aunt in about a month and a half! I cannot wait! Aaron and Joslin will be welcoming a sweet baby boy in August.
I am including some pictures from her birthday party. Thanks to me wonderful sister-in-law Joslin who was my "official" party photographer. I appreciate her so much!
Rebekah ready for the party!

Fun in the Sun

We have been travelers the past few weeks. We made a trip to Dallas for PawPaw to go to a seminar. We made a trip to Florida so I could take the media specialist exam. And we made a trip to Grandbury for my sister-in-law Joslin's baby shower. It is good to be home! Both girls did great! I was suprised how well they travel. I hope this continues as they grown up.

Cecelia is still growing like a weed! I cannot believe she will be 2 in less than a month. Her birthday party will be July 10th. If you can come please let me know so I can have enough food. :o) I am amazed everyday at what she knows. She is extremely verbal. She loves to talk. She is also a great big sister. She loves to hold her. She is better at being gentle with Rebekah who she calls "Baby Beck". Cecelia is starting to get into the terrible twos! Her favorite word most days is NO. Normally we don't have too many fits unless she is tired or hungry. Overall though she is a sweet loving little girl.
While we were in Granbury, Cecelia went with my dad, Aaron, and MeeHow (Mr. Howard, Joslin's dad) to an experimental airplane fly-in at the iar strip in their subdivision. She had a blast!!
Rebekah had her 2 month well baby check up today. She is well. :o) She weighed 13 pounds 6.3 ounces and is 22 3/4 inches long. She seems so big but the doctor said she is great. She is in the 89th percentile for her weight and 30th percentile for her height. She had to get 3 shots today. She was a trooper. She cried when they gave them to her but she stopped as soon as I picked her up. She is taking a nap now. Last week we had her cardiology check up. The hole between her top chambers has not closed all of the way and one of her valves is not opening all the way but it is minimal. The cardiologist said that he feels once the hole closes the valve should go ahead and open all the way. We go back in 6 months for a cardiology check up. Rebekah is smiling and cooing at us now. She even laughs some times. She is also sleeping a fairly long stretch at night so I am more rested than I was.
I passed the Florida media specialist exam which takes me one step closer to graduation which is still on track for December. I cannot wait to be done with school! I love it but I am ready to be done. I am applying for school library jobs so I am hoping I can find one. If not I am hoping to get a teaching job.
The girls and I are doing great. I am so blessed to have two wonderful, sweet, beautiful daughters!! They are my greatest joy in life!
Here are a few pictures from the past several weeks.
Cecelia with her bucket on her head. We went to the Crab Trap on Okaloosa Island while we were in Fort Walton. She loves eating crab. Leave it to my daughter to have expensive tastes in food! :o)
Cecelia holding "Baby Beck". She loves to hold her.
Cecelia pointing to an "A-plane". She loved looking at the airplanes.
Cecelia with Uncle Aaron and one of the "Hopters" at the Fly-in.

Life with 2 under 2!

Wow is has been a crazy month and a half. Life is certainly busy with two kiddos under 2. I LOVE every minute of it. The girls are my joy in life.

Rebekah is growing so fast! She is already 10 pounds. She is a good eater. This week she has started sleeping longer streches at night which is a blessing to me. Whoever said "sleep when the baby sleeps" only has one kid! You can't sleep during the day when you have a toddler running around. Rebekah is much more alert and has started smiling and cooing. It melts my heart!

Cecelia is so smart! She is very observant and talks all the time. She is using 2 and 3 word sentances and is answering questions instead of just mimicing what you say. Everywhere I go I get compliments on how beautiful she is. She is also so personable. She loves talking to people. Her favorite person is my dad. she is his shadow. When he comes home from work, Cecelia gets so excited. She hears the honk when he locks his car and runs to the front door saying "Paw Paw home!" They go outside every afternoon to tend to the plants or to swim in her pool. She loves being outside. She runs and runs and has a blast! Of course dad is wrapped around her little finger! Mom says watching him with Cecelia reminds her of when I was little. She is so lucky to have him for her Paw Paw becuase I know how lucky I am to have him as my daddy!

This past weekend, John's mother, step-father and his grandparents came to see the girls. It was a good visit. Grammy and Papi were so cute with the girls! Papi spent most of the day playing with Cecelia.

I talked with the church and Rebekah will be baptized August 8th at the 7:30am mass. If you are able to make it please let me know. The more there the better. It is such a wonderful celebration!

I am in my last class before my internship. I will be graduating in December. I am so excited about this. I am also proud that I have maintained a 4.0 even with everything that has gone on. I was invited to join Phi Kappa Phi the national honor society. I would have never done this when I was doing my bachelors. This time I have a reason to do my best, my girls! They make me want to be my best so that they will be their best.

Below are some random pictures that we have taken in the past few weeks. It seems like I took so many pictures when Cecelia was little and have not taken as many this time. I just neverthink about the camera since the girls keep me so busy.

Cecelia with her new table for the porch. Dad put it together in the garage and she wanted to sit at it right away. She did not want to go inside when it was time she loves it so much!

Cecelia taking a break while helping PawPaw in the yard. She loves wearing his hat while she works! :o)

Cecelia flying a kite with Paw Paw. It was funny when she let it go and Dad had to chase it! I wish I had it on video. I would be $10,000 richer! hehe.

Cecelia reading with her Great Grammy and Papi.

Rebekah in her big bow hat! It think it is so cute!

Cecelia holding Rebekah. Cecelia always asks me to "hold her". She will repeat it over and over until she gets to hold her. She really does love her little sister.

Welcome to the world Rebekah Arabella!!!

Rebekah made her debut March 30, 2010 at 2:34pm. She weighed 7 lbs. 6 oz. and was 19 inches long. I had a relatively easy delivery. I only hurt really bad for about 45 minutes and it only took 3 pushes and she was here. I was blessed to have my mom and sister-in-law, Joslin, with me in the delivery room. They were a great support. We got to bring her home but had to go back to the hospital a few days later because she was jaundiced. A night under the photo therapy was all it took and she was OK. She is really growing fast! I can tell in her arms, legs, and face. They are filling out. She is a great baby! She sleeps pretty good. We have only had a couple sleepless nights. Other than that she wakes up about every 3 hours to eat at night. She is having more awake time during the day. She is very alert and loves to look around.

Cecelia is doing great with her. We are working on being gentle with the baby. She LOVES her baby sister. She kisses her and reads to her. She likes to show Rebekah her toys. She also likes to hold her. I just have to watch her very careful because when she is done holding her she pushes her away. We have had a few moments where jealousy has reared it's ugly head but not too many. Overall, she has done really well adjusting to having a sister.

Being a single mom of a 21 month old and a newborn can be insane but I love being a mom so much! The girls bring so much joy to my life. I look forward to our lives together as they learn and grow. I am amazed by both of them everyday. I am thankful to my parents. I could not do this alone and their help is so wonderful.

I will graduate this December with my masters. Never did I think so many things would have changed in just the time it has taken me to get my masters! Two babies, an unexpected move, and many other things. In all of this, I have kept my 4,0 and will graduate with honors. This is something I am very proud of. I look at getting my masters as an investment into mine and the girl's future. It will help me get a job that I will truly enjoy so I will be a happy mommy. I will also have the same schedule as the girls once they are in school so I will have lots of time to spend with them.

Shortly after Rebekah was born. I was so excited to see her!

On her way to get weighed and cleaned up. Auntie Jojo was our delivery room photographer! :o)

Cecelia meeting her new baby sister! She loved holding her and kept saying "Baby!" to anyone who would listen. :o)

My Smart Baby Girl!!

Cecelia blew me away the other day. As I have said before she LOVES books! We read to her more times than I can count everyday becuase she is always bringing us book to read to her. One of her favorite books is a Sesame Street Alphabet book. She loves to point to the letters when I point and say them. She likes to say the letter after I say it. A while back I bought her Sesame Street letter cards but I had not given them to her yet because I thought she wasn't ready for them. The other day she brought them too me from her book shelf. I thought I would go ahead and give them to her for the exposure. She wanted me to tell her the letters so we went through the deck twice. She loved it. She would say the letters after I said them, smile and clap. After we did them twice, I gave her the deck to play with. To my suprise and astonishment, she would hand me a card and tell me the letter on it, without me saying the letter!!!!! She knew almost all of the letters. I almost fell out of my chair. The cards were not in order so that let me know she actually does know the letters. She has told me the letters everyday since then. She thinks it is a game. She drops the deck on the floor then picks them up to hand them to me one at a time while telling me the letters. She beams with pride! I never thought at her age she would know her letters but when I think about it most of her favorite books are alphabet books, and one of her favorite shows is wheel of fortune. She will sit down and watch the whole show. When the contestants say the letters she echos them and them Vanna turns the letter around. It is instant say it, see it. She absorbs everything!

One of her other favorite books is a nursery rhyme board book that has Baa, Baa Black Sheep. She has been able to say Baa, Baa for a while but recently she will sit down to read the book to herself and she will actually say Baa, Baa, Black Sheep. She talks so much now! Her vocabulary is amazing!

Cecelia loves her baby dolls. She wraps them in their blankies and feds them their bottles, and carries them around so carefully. It is precious. I am hoping this is a sign that she will be a good big sister. Now that my belliy is really sticking out she loves to come up and kiss my tummy. When I ask her where is our baby she gently rubs my tummy. I had to teach her to be gentle with my tummy becuase she loves to jump into my lap and crawl all over me. She has been much better about being gentle.

On the pregnancy front, I had to be on bed rest for 2 weeks. I was feeling a lot of preassure down low. To be on the safe side I had to stay off me feel and lay down. It was not fun. It took a few days for Cecelia to understand mommy could not pick her up. I am so thankful for my mom. She had to take off work 2 weeks to stay with me. I felt really bad becuase this is their busy time of year. The doctor released me from bed rest but told me to take it easy and limit how much I pick up Cecelia. This let mom go back to work and it let me move around. I was stir crazy having to lay around.
The baby is doing good. She is very active. This past week they put me on the monitor at the doctors office. It is the same kind they use in the hospital to monitor the baby's heart beat and monitor to see if I am having contractions. The baby's heart beat was good. She kept kicking where the monitor was. I was not having any contractions. I think they are going to put me on the monitor each time I go from now on. I have to go every week now.

This past Wednesday, Mom, Dad, Aaron, Joslin, Joslin's mom Rhonda, Cecelia and I went to the rodeo to see Rascal Flatts. It was Salute the Troops day. There were so many men and women in uniform and even more people who were very proud of the troops and made sure to tell them. They actually had buses from Fort Hood to get the soldiers there. At a time when it seems like the troops are forgotten, this was a great day! It made me very proud to be an American. The coolest part was right before Rascal Flatts performed, a group of Air Force Special Tactics guys repelled from the top of Relaiant Stadium with the flag. It was SO COOL!

I had a difficult time walking at the rodeo. The baby decided that morning to lay on my nerve and has decided to camp out there. When I walk I get a shooting pain in my upper leg. Not fun! We got their early so we were able to take it easy and sit down to rest a lot. They even let me take the elevator up to the level where our seats were so I didn't have to take the ramp. We were in the top level so it was a long walk up the ramps. I was glad to be able to take the elevator.
Cecelia loved the rodeo! She like seeing the cows and horses and would point and clap. She LOVED Rascal Flatts. She clapped and danced. I think I had the most fun watching her. She was so good the whole time! Below is the picture I took of her in her Aggie overalls right before we left. She loves her overalls! The face she is making is her new picture face. When I tell her to smile so Mommy can take a picture that is the face I get. It is so cute!
